Gas pricing
The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) regulates BC’s energy utilities such as BC Hydro, Fortis BC, and Pacific Northern Gas Ltd., and is also the administrator of BC’s Fuel Price Transparency Act (FTP). The BCUC does not regulate fuel prices. They are responsible for collecting and publishing information about gasoline and diesel fuel activities in BC, in an effort to promote competitiveness and public confidence in the competitiveness of the fuel market.
The Competition Bureau is an independent federal law enforcement agency that protects and promotes competition for the benefit of Canadian consumers and businesses, including investigating allegations of illegal practices in the gasoline market.
