Where do you normally go for information about government benefits and to find out which ones you may be eligible for? Recently, I found a self-help tool that makes it easy to find out what benefits apply to me. I had to pass this resource along, as I’m sure some of you will find it just as helpful as I did!
The Government of Canada has put together a self-help tool called The Benefits Finder. All you have to do is enter information that’s specific to your circumstances and, voila, you’re presented with a list of benefits you may be eligible for!
Once you get started, you’ll be asked a variety of questions (such as your age, marital status, health situation and more). It’s important to note that you will NOT have to provide any personal information (such as your Social Insurance Number, name, address, etc).

Good morning Bett! The best place to start would be your bank or credit union. I’d suggest booking an appointment with one of their advisers to talk about your goals and any advice they may have on how to achieve them.
Another idea might be to contact BC Housing to see if they have any suggestions (I see information about subsidized rentals on their website, but not actually buying): http://www.bchousing.org/Initiatives/Providing/Subsidized. While this particular topic might be outside their jurisdiction, they may have information on other places or organizations you could try. I hope this helps, and all the best to you!
Hello Melaina! I looked thru this site & plse need help to find a link to see if I qualify for housing assistance; I am 70-yr old registered First Nations & rent a trailer & want to know if its at all possible for my dream to own a small home with a big sunny yard & don’t have $ for down-payment; have incredibly yukky credit; & a chronic condition called AS. Not very encouraging huh? Hmmmm, still, if you can help, great!
