Are you applying for a job with us?

Here at Consumer Protection BC, we use a platform called GetHired for our competition processes. This means that you will be navigating this system to apply for any of our jobs. Let’s tell you more about that so that you know what to expect.

Our unique URL on the GetHired platform is https://consumerprotectionbc.gethired.com/. When we post a job on our corporate website, we will share this GetHired link with you to apply. On this platform, you can also see all our current vacancies and create an account (or sign-in using your Indeed.com account information).

GetHired is an applicant tracker system so this is where you’ll submit your resume/application, answer our screening questions, and get all communications from our People & Culture Team during the recruitment process. We don’t accept applications by email so you must apply using this portal.

Applying for a job with us

(Don’t forget to read the job description in full first!)

  1. Create a GetHired Account: Go to our unique portal and choose the role you’re applying to from the list of open positions by clicking on the “View job” button. (If you can’t find the job you are looking for, the opportunity has likely closed.) To begin the application process, use the box on the right side of the screen that says “Apply for this Position”. Choose to apply with Indeed or through your GetHired account. Don’t use the “Apply with LinkedIn” option because that isn’t enabled.
    • If you don’t have a GetHired account, create one (or link your existing Indeed account information).
    • If you already have a GetHired account, you can sign-in using the “Apply Now” button.
  2. Let us know how to reach you: Include your current contact information including your first or preferred name, and your last name; along with an email address and phone number where you can be easily reached.
    • Please only apply once, with one email address. Duplicate applications will not be considered, and applying more than once will not increase your chances for selection.
  3. Fill out your application: Sometimes we ask for cover letters, but we often ask for a resume and include mandatory pre-screening questions in place of a cover letter. For more information on what we look for in a cover letter or how to answer the pre-screening questions using GetHired, read our blog on that topic.
  4. Review and submit your application.
    • Read through your application and double check any special application instructions or requirements. Did you do everything that was required? If you do not follow the application instructions, you may be disqualified from consideration.
    • When your application is submitted you will get an automated email thanking you for your interest and reminding you to double check everything has saved.
    • If you think your application has not been submitted, you can re-submit before the deadline by using the “update answers” button.
  5. No longer interested? You can withdraw your application in the ‘Applications’ Dashboard.

How will you hear from us?

We communicate with you using the GetHired messaging portal. Sometimes these messages get forwarded to your email and look like they come from the donotreply@gethired.com email reply address. While this might look funny, don’t worry – we will get your questions or replies. If we have any persistent communication issues, we will follow up with you.

While we use this online portal to accept job applications, we don’t use automated technologies to screen your resume. Your application is personally reviewed by our People & Culture team. If you have questions, please reach out to us at careers@consumerprotectionbc.ca (but don’t apply for a job through this email address!)
