| Fijiana Travel Operating Without a Licence |

{October 9, 2008} VICTORIA, BC – The Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is advising consumers that it is pursuing enforcement action against Fijiana Travel, a travel agency operating without a licence in Vancouver, BC.
A Compliance Order has been issued to Fijiana Travel stating that the company must come into compliance with the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act. The company has 30 days to comply before further action is undertaken by the BPCPA. In British Columbia, travel agencies and wholesalers are required to be licensed with the BPCPA and contribute to the Travel Assurance Fund. The fund offers added protection to consumers who have purchased travel services from a licensed BC travel agent or travel wholesaler. Consumers who are booking with Fijiana Travel are not protected under the Travel Assurance Fund. Licensed travel agents and wholesalers are advised that the law prohibits licensees from knowingly dealing with unlicensed travel agents.
