Can I Return a New Car?
Written by Michelle
Our Inquiry team often receives calls from consumers who have just purchased a car from a BC dealership. The most common question we are asked is whether or not they can return the car if they are not satisfied. Often consumers think there is a grace period where they can return the car but this is not the case. Once you purchase the car, most often you can’t return it.
The organization which oversees the law governing certain aspects of dealerships is the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia. Check out a recent blog post of theirs for more information about returning a car purchased from a dealership.

22 December 2011Unfortunately, this isn't our area of expertize but perhaps you may want to contact the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia. Check out their blog at http://vsastories.blogspot.com/. They have some great information (including videos) and you could probably ask your question there.
I hope this helps!

28 February 2013Private transactions are not regulated and as a result it is up the parties involve to attempt a resolution if possible. If this is not possible the matter may need to be resolved in a court of law. I'm sorry we could be of more help.

07 May 2013I suspect that the information in our original blog post above would apply in terms of returns. Having said that, the organization which oversees the law governing certain aspects of dealerships is the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia. I would suggest you contact them just to be sure. Their website is: http://www.mvsabc.com/
Here is their blog post on the issue: http://www.mvsabc.com/blog/what-you-should-know-about-vehicle-returns
