Consumer Protection BC does not currently oversee financial banking institutions or the products they offer. You may be able to find more information by contacting the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) at http://bit.ly/624avI. With regards to any questions about insurance, there are a number of resources that may be able to assist you. Here is a link to a page of our website that provides access to these resources: http://bit.ly/lUY0rV. Of course you are more than welcome to contact us by telephone if you have more questions at 1-888-564-9963.

Who regulates what personal identifying information that insurance companies can legally require as part of a insurance policy for a home? For instance, can property insurers *require* birthdate and occupation information on policyholders and their families if there is no home-based business?

Where can I find more information online and who can I call to find out more?

Thanks.
